The department of Biochemistry was established in the year 1997-98. The department gives a great deal of emphasis at the curricular level to meet a few objectives. The objectives of the department are: to give a broad coverage of all branches of chemistry keeping in view with the interdisciplinary nature of the subject today. It offers fundamental and advanced courses covering the wide gamut of topics in chemistry and closely related areas, and comprehensive research training to nurture future scientists, teachers, and technical professionals in the field. It offers PG Programme in Biochemistry with an intake of 30 students. The syllabi of the papers are designed with an emphasis on the all round development of the personality of the students with an adequate importance to get employment opportunities. The courses provide a wide range of specializations. The department gives admission into the PG course is based on the ranks obtained in the Common Entrance Test which will be conducted by the University. E. The faculty of this department is actively engaged in teaching and research since its inception.
