The Department of Statistics was established as a self Finance course in the year 2015-16. The objectives of the department are to acquaint students with the role played in science and technology by probabilistic and statistical ideas and methods, to provide instruction in the theory and application of techniques that have been found to be commonly useful, and to train research workers in probability and statistics. There are courses for general students as well as those who plan careers in statistics in business, government, industry, and teaching. The department offers two year course on M.Sc. Statistics with an intake of 30 students. The faculty of the department is actively engaged in teaching and research since its inception. The Department of Statistics has many strengths includes its high faculty to student ratio, state of the art facilities, strong focus on postgraduate education balanced with leading edge research and service.
